File Types

File Types We Use To Produce Your Work.

Web:

.jpg & .jpeg - Joint Photographic Group. We often will ask for High Resolution versions of images that relate to your business, services, staff and products. We can use these Hi-Res images in both Print and Web, changing the resolution and colour profile for Web use.

.png - Portable Network Graphic, a type of raster image file. It's particularly popular file type with web designers because it can handle graphics with transparent or semi-transparent backgrounds. Unless you have copies of your files in Transparent PNG format, we will often covert your JPG files to PNG if we need them to have a transparent background.

.svg - Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is a web-friendly vector file format. This is a popular format that is used for both Web and Print. The resolution is scalable, and often compact that allows for fast loading times into the browser. We will convert your files if we need to in order to use them on your website.

.bitmap - The term bitmap comes from the computer programming terminology, meaning just a map of bits, a spatially mapped array of bits. This file format we rarely ask for, but will accept if that is all you have copies of.

.tiff - Tag Image File Format This file format we rarely ask for, but will accept if that is all you have copies of.

Print:

.pdf - Portable Document File. A lot of client files are often saved as PDF. The main reason for this is the PDF extension is readable on all computers, and the original content remains the same, including fonts, even if the recipient does not have that font installed on their computers. Usually, word documents are saved or exported as PDF. This makes it difficult for the recipient to edit the original document.

Artwork, such as vector, are exported as PDF and can be sent to designers and printers to import into their Vector Programs to further edit, correct or add to further artworks. If your artwork is in .pdf format as a means to store and transfer files, please ensure that ALL artwork and fonts are "outlined" or converted to shapes.

.eps - Encapsulated PostScript File Format. This is a popular file for Graphic Designers who need the original Vector Artwork to work with or manipulate. If your artwork is in eps format as a means to store and transfer files, please ensure that ALL artwork and fonts are "outlined" or converted to shapes.
