About This Project

Rukuwai Lloyd is based in Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty and has a background in Psychology (Massey University), and is currently studying Te Toi Tangata, Humanities and Indigenous Business Studies at Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi; Whakatane.

Ruku – (verb) to dive, diving, dive for; Wai – (noun) water, stream, and Ora – (verb) to be alive, well, safe, cured, recovered, healthy, fit, healed encompasses everything that Rukuwai herself, brings to the table in life.

Another project I loved working on, being able to call on so many things culturally in order to visualise the final result. It’s a beautiful piece, one that resonates the very essence of Rukuwai Lloyd. The connection to her iwi, her Maunga and her spiritual sense is inline with our traditional “Matakite” comprehension, and she has this gift.
